Soooooo....I'm back. Anyone still here?
I have been so busy these last few weeks and a lot has changed in those weeks. I apologize that there have been no updates, but I'm here and if anyone is still out there reading this, here is your update.First I officially started at the church. It is so amazing to actually look forward to coming into work each day. My first week of work consisted of going to Summer Camp (a trip I would usually have to use my vacation time for and now it's part of my job). I tried to keep up on my runs while I was there but a combo of altitude change and schedule prevented those dedicated workouts. I did run around a lot and even went on a couple mountain bike rides. But alas, no 10k training.
Then we got back and Sarah and I took off for Lake Tahoe for a couple of days to celebrate our 3 year anniversary. It was an AMAZING time of reconnection, relaxation, and rejuvenation. Our pastor let us borrow his tent trailer and we went to Tahoe Valley Campground (a Slavich tradition that has now become an official Richter tradition). We slept in (i even took a couple of naps, which never happens), played games (I got owned at Gin Rummy but my manhood returned when I owned at Connect Four), read books, and turned off electronics (minus my phone in case of emergencies. I've got a preggo with me). But seriously just we just relaxed.
We went out to a super nice anniversary dinner with a view of Lake Tahoe right at sunset and it was awesome. The food was amazing and the service was fantastic. They even gave us a little anniversary desert for free (it had a chocolate "happy anniversary" thing on top of it too.) We were actually sitting next to a couple who was also celebrating their 45th anniversary. So cool to see people celebrate long anniversaries like that.
I did actually go for a couple runs in Tahoe because I have a crazy supportive wife. There was no way to judge exactly how far I ran, but I am assuming it was around 2.5 miles for 2 days based on pace and time ran. But I'll tell you, 2.5 miles in Tahoe on mountain bike trails feels like 7 miles in Morgan Hill on the track. I was beat after the run.
Well we got back and I got into the swing of things here at church. It got really busy and again, no more running. Dreading my weigh in on Monday I stepped to the scale...and to my surprise...
That's right my friends...214!!! A new JustIn Control record. If that wasn't inspiration enough I got my bib number in the mail.
Wharf to Wharf is just a little over 3 weeks away! It is time to finish strong.
I am going to really kick training into high gear. This week, there has been no running unfortunately, but it starts today.
Here is the plan for the rest of the week
Wednesday:3 miles
Thursday: 3 miles
Friday: 4 miles
Saturday: 4 miles

You are doing AMAZING! That is so great! I am so bummed that I missed the sign up for the run! But I know you will do awesome:)
P.S. Can we make family camping trips in Tahoe a Richter/Harrell tradition every year?
I am here! Barely... things have been crazy!
214!! Wow! That's so exciting.
I am happy that you are happy with your new job! Ministry was some of the hardest and greatest times of my life. Ben was pastoring at an unhealthy church, so it was a relief when it was time to move on.
Hey. What's going on?
The big race is coming up!
Even if I don't "comment" everytime, I really enjoy reading your blog! love, mom
Justin!!!! Where is your wharf to wharf update and final deal?? We want to know how your experience was!!
I'll second that! It was great to read about it on Sarah's blog, as well as exchange a couple of texts on Sunday, but we need to hear all about it from your very own fingers :-)
And... we need to know what's next! What's the next goal/competition?
