Guess What I Did
So...after the last post, I realized that I was getting the most excited about setting a fitness achievement goal. I saw that training for a goal would work to my benefit on the other two choices...losing weight and fitting into smaller clothes.
So after Cristin's post about the "couch to 10k" idea, I googled that and found a totally reasonable workout. She is coming to visit tomorrow so I'll talk to her more about it, but that is what I am going to work towards.
And just to keep me extra motivated, we went out to dinner with the Tatos last night and Pamela mentioned a 10k race this summer called the Wharf to Wharf in Santa Cruz. Basically you run from Santa Cruz to Capitola. So...I just registered.
Training starts Monday and the race is July 26th. So that means I have about 12 weeks to get into shape. I am so blessed to have such a supportive wife and supportive friends. Tato is going to run it with me too. A little healthy competition makes it even more exciting. But to be honest, I just want to finish the race strong and prove to myself that I can do it.
Sorry I jumped on the goal thing...Lee's comment got me thinking. "What does motivate me?" and having an attainable goal gets me pumped. So 10k, here I come.

Your registration pretty much guarantees that Sarah will be in labor that day. LOL.
All the best on your new goal!
That's so awesome Justin! I am proud of you! Maybe I'll come cheer you on. We might be in the area for a visit around that time and might be able to fit that in.
Keep us posted on your training schedule.
congrats! good luck training-i know sarah is a great support system :)
can't wait to talk more about it this weekend! So proud of you. Maybe I'll come up and do it with you...ooohh maybe I can get john on board (evil laugh)
You are a warrior. It should be a really fun day.
btw, I had the same thought as Jeff.
I am SO confident you can do this! Shoot, I might look for a race now :)
Cool! Keep us posted on your training. I've heard that this is a fun race.
This is a great goal for you. I think you will do fantastic! Maybe the morning coffee meeters should all participate in this event...you should encourage my husband to join in on it too. I'm sure he'd love to run with you and Tato and experience this accomplishment with you!
